| Description: | Counterpoint Chamber Choir will be performing a Christmas Concert ~'Angels are singing, the Christ child is born' at St. Mary’s Anglican Church Maitland on the afternoon of Sunday 1 December 2024, commencing at 2:00pm. Following a very successful concert in August this year at St. Mary’s Maitland, when young local soprano, Georgia Dulley, sang a solo work, as well as featured with Counterpoint, the choir is very pleased Georgia has accepted an invitation from Counterpoint to again perform with the choir. She will be joining Counterpoint in the rousing Christmas choral classic, O Holy Night and performing a solo rendition of Peter Warlock’s The First Mercy. Counterpoint Christmas Concerts have regularly included audience participation, and those attending will be invited to sing along in a selection of well-known Christmas carols accompanied by St. Mary's organist, Barbara Slade. To complete the concert, a full program of Christmas carols and songs from the Counterpoint repertoire will be presented to get the audience into the mood for the festive season. Elaine Barnes will be guest conductor, and Linda Alford will be guest accompanist on the double bass, while choir members will provide accompaniment at the piano for some choir items.
